Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

This beer has a really cool bottle, thus setting it apart from all the other bad porters out there. The lesson being: Don’t be fooled, its fool’s gold

Bottle. Smokey chocolate malt aroma. Medium brown color with giant head. Slightly smokey chocolate malt flavor with a slight metallic finish. Really enjoyed the flavor of this beer.

Picked this one up at a Fred Meyer in Bremerton. I had seen it before, but never gave it a chance until a guy that was also browsing the beer shelf incouraged us to give it a whirl. Creamy head that yielded some decent lacing. Medium brown pour. Caramel and a slight toasty malt aroma. Small amounts of coffee hiding in there. Watery taste and mouth feel. Not bad, especially for the price.

I was surprised by this one. 2.99 for the jug and we got it because my girlfriend begged. Actually pretty good. Pours the typical dark brown/ red color of a porter with a small acidic head. Tastes like chocolate, malt, caramel, and has a bitter finish. Good. Update: This is turned into watery crap with almost no flavor and a mouthfeel that is waif like.

pours reddish brown with a thick khaki head that goes away quickly. smells grassy with a little toasted nut and hops notes. taste pretty much the same as it smells only a bit metalic and thin, reminds me of a flat RC cola, not so good of an aftertaste. not too impressed.

946ml "jug". Colour is orangey brown. Somewhat creamy rocky head, sticks to the glass. Aroma is lightly roasty, notes of iron, some sweetness and caramel. Flavour is grainy, some midway sweetness that’s almost cola like, a trace of roast in the finish, some weak hop notes, a little dry. Thinner bodied than I like my porters. Light carbonation.
