Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

Kind of unremarkable. Hit the spot after a seven hour drive. Thought it was a little thin for a porter.

Bottled. Sweet toffee/liqourice aroma. Pours with a dark tan hue and no head at all. Sweet and malty with coffee, liqourice and toffee notes. Quite thin on the palate with a warm sweet finish.

Pours a brown with creamy tan head. Sweet. Toffee notes. Medium bodied, although a little too watery for my tastes. Sweet, then bitter finish.

16 oz jug. Pours a dark clear amber color with a foamy white head. Barely an aroma of faint grains and a hint of old honey. Taste is watered down grains with a hint of malty nuts. Not very good, lacking flavor.

the bottle and its packagin are the most alluring part of this brew, in its mini jug. decent taste, medium brown body, could have been darker with more stout flavor.

Poured an earthy ruby color with a thick, tan, soapy head. The nose was of chocolate, grain, and honey. The taste started with a thin, nutty toastiness, chocolate and biscuit. The end brings forward the lager qualities of corn, tart fruits and grassy hops. Bottled black and tans don’t impress me much, but this has qualities that remind me of an average to good brown ale. It’s better than I expected. (NOTE) Just drink it cold. Later, I found that as it warmed it’s lager characteristics go from fuity to sour, which changes my rating from a cold 3.1 to a warm 1.8 so, it gets a 2.4

Faux little brown jug. Pours a clear brown with a lacy tan head. Caramel and nutty nose. Medium body with powerful carbonation. The flavors aren’t huge, but I could find some toasted bread, caramel, chocolate. Crisp and lightly bitter lager-like finish. A bit on the light side for a porter - I see the tan, but where’s the black?
