Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

(jug - 16 oz) Very light brown color with a fizzy tan head. Aroma is light with some malts and a slight nutty note at the end. Flavor is very light with some malts and a little nutty flavor as well. Very thin bodied and overly fizzy. A decent drinking beer.

Jug-bottle. Tried some time ago and never rated. Previewed the rating and was pleasantly surprised after seeing the 21 rating. Not a bad brew at all - not a black and tan, as no premixed beer can be, but still better than a 21.

1 quart jug to a pint glass. Pours much lighter than I would have thought. Stinging in the mouth, bad aftertaste. I guess the bottle was worth $2.79. Very watered down. Is this really a black and tan?

Bottle, st. patrick’s day, I started off a long list of beers with this one. Nice flavor...creamy...smooth...not offputting at all. I enjoyed it, and have been meaning to buy a quart of it. Bought a quart the other day. Very nice sweet, malty, almost light nutty beer. Certain pilsner taste, and very little porter flavor.

Bought it for the bottle, plain and simple. Nothing worth talking about. Doesn’t premixing a black and tan defeat the whole point?

This was actually a fairly decent beer. One of the stable of beers I had while celebrating my sisters 50th birthday. The aroma was caramel, perhaps light brown sugar and malt. Appearance was light brown with minimal head action. I found the mouthfeel to be slightly astringent, and mostly unpleasant and really watery although it really didn’t detract signifigantly from the overall effect of the beer. Flavors weren’t really good or bad either way. It simply tasted like a watered down porter IMO. It also had an odd chemical-like aftertaste. Nothing really bad, nothing really good so I doubt I will revisit anytime soon. I like the idea and the presentation is very nice in the shoulder jug.
