Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

This was actually a fairly decent beer. One of the stable of beers I had while celebrating my sisters 50th birthday. The aroma was caramel, perhaps light brown sugar and malt. Appearance was light brown with minimal head action. I found the mouthfeel to be slightly astringent, and mostly unpleasant and really watery although it really didn’t detract signifigantly from the overall effect of the beer. Flavors weren’t really good or bad either way. It simply tasted like a watered down porter IMO. It also had an odd chemical-like aftertaste. Nothing really bad, nothing really good so I doubt I will revisit anytime soon. I like the idea and the presentation is very nice in the shoulder jug.

Why did I buy this beer? Because everyone else was doing it... so I’m a Lemming... It tasted weaker than any Black and Tan I’ve ever had... which made sense when I read the bottle, and found out how they made it... I guess its not terrable to drink, but so boring...

What a nice looking bottle, quite fit to hold this delicous delicous brew! Not much head, good woody-chocalate smell and similar taste but better, I like this beer alot and the lacing is impressive! oh ya !! ...ok...a year later and i know so much more, the bottle is genius becasue thats why u buy this average beer.buy iy once if u collect bottles and if u need a cheap average somewhat respectable beer.

there’s not much here. i side with most of the panel in that the bottle seems to grab more attentions than the actual taste of the beer. kudos on the premixed black and tan, but the rich copper-amber color and a foamy little head don’t make it the most appetizing beer to look at. the only aromas i caught were unripe fruit, bread and a little earth. the taste was a bit metallic and watered down. it’s probably the pilsner trying to take over what little good the beer possesses. the finish was the slightest bit bitter, which is a plus. unfortunately, it is one of the few. it was recommended by a coworker. oh well, ’tis better than budweiser.

This is a fun brew. Not much like a conventional black & tan, but toasty sweet malt is good on a cold day. Recommended for parties or dinner events. Not alot of complexity.

32oz gift bottle from a traveling friend. A dark amber pour with slight head and lacing. A lagerish aroma with sweet malt. A light flavor of malt. A very sweet beer. I like sweet beers but not this one so much. It had a shade of bitter in the end that creeps in as an after taste that isn’t really pleasant. Not a beer I would buy again. I’m just not a fan of B&T’s.
