Aroma is sweet malts, a drop of spicyness, a bit earthy. The flavor started with a decent maltyness, slightly spicy-reminiscent of a porter, with a decent mouthfeel, but it has no finish. It just fades out with no characteristics. This beer was frusturating. SGTHibbert (100), Perry, Iowa, USA

Believe me there are much better porters to be had. 57sailplane (1), Hebron, Nebraska, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Aug 17, 2006 i like dark beers. i also like the lite ones but i am allergic to the lighter ones. i am 38 years old and i have just found this beer. been drinking it for 2 mounths now with hardly any bad side affects.. you laugh but when you drink one beer, just one and get a migrane you know theres a problem.. this is the first beer i have found other than gueniss that leave me feeling fine.. no matter how many i drink. i wish i had this beer when i was younger. its a blessing. best dang beer to me and believe me i have tried a lot of them.. alot.. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA

Sweet aftertaste is overpowering and throws the beer out of balance. Not recommended. beaconstreet (811), Washington DC, USA

32 oz bottle
Recent brewing, drank 08/06
Regular pour in a tulip glass
Poured a clear reddish brown, with average frothy head.
Smelt of burnt molasses and a hint of licorice.
Taste was of light sweet bready malts and dying quickly with slght fruit and spice, and awkward bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel was light, fizzy and astringent.
Overall, a classy beer to drink in public straight from the jug-shaped bottle, that will still draw ridicule from the monks.

I was expecting crap, I really just bought it for the bottle. It wasn’t wattered down with a cheap pilsner, and I felt like I got all of the porter notes. It was thicker than expected too. Aroma had a mostly porter character to it, and even a slightly creamy note. Unfortunately, I got this at the beach.... if it were around at home, I would get it all the time! Especially since it was $1.32 for a pint! Go try it! biznizness (948), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
