Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

A guilty plesure if there ever was one. It’s got all the characteristics of a good amber with a hint of chocolate and caramel. Slight white wine in the finish. I first had this in Colorado, and I buy this one every once in awhile. It’s good; not the best, but it’s good.

I have always enjoyed this trashy brew. Whenever I have given one to a friend, they have politely gagged it down. An old Spanish saying: If three people call you an ass, put on a saddle. I still enjoy it, and would have difficulty explaining why!

Faint aroma of malt and hay. Mahogany brownish beer and thin fluffy head. Does resemble more of a pilsner than any porter flavors. Barley sweet, caramel malt and some grass notes. Not a very good black and tan.

Growler type bottle. Reddish color with an off white head. Malty, caramelly nose with some roasted? notes. Taste is pretty much what you would imagine a decent porter mixed with a pilsner, that is malty, caramelly, pleasant, but nothing special. I would have rather just tried the porter.

I like this beer for 2 reasons. Its tastey, not the best but average and I also put this in my baked beans in a slow cooker overnight. This could be abit more robust.I really like to taste the porter.I felt it was masked a bit.Overall an average smooth drinking brew thats good for cooking with.

First black and tan. I like Black more I believe. Very murky taste..... Mud is right. I think of mud when I taste this. It is an ok beer. Could be better... needs to be less muted.

I really like the jug. it makes it seem like the beer is worth buying, which it really isnt. its pretty much bland. average color, not something I would buy in a regular bottle
