Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

1 quart bottle. Pours a deep amber brown with a small, off-white head. The nose is light with some malt and caramel notes. Medium carbonation with a light, watery mouthfeel. Hints of caramel, roasted malt, and mineral notes on the palate. Short finish. Drinkable, but not a lot of flavor or complexity there.

pours a light, see-through brown with lots of head. A little thin for the style, fairly sweet and little discernable hopping but I don’t think it’s that bad.

Looks like coca-cola, well maybe alittle more red with a slightly better head. Tasks like a dark lager. Not much smell, some malt. Feels thin and goes down like water. Not complicated.

Quart Jug. Pours a short lived head, with no lacing, over a clear amber body....nose is light sweetish with hints of caramel, bit of coffee....taste initially is sweet malts, evolving into roasted malt flavors, all are very light....mouthfeel is light and watery....very similar to Mexican dark lagers.

(Rating #2291)

Watered down coffee made into a beer. That sums it up. Poured watery brown. Aroma of coffee. Gimmic with the bottle. Like the ceramic more than the glass.

Pours more amber than brown. Nutty, malted aroma, not strong but detectable. Sweet, earthy taste that quickly fades. Almost a bit metallic and watery finish. As many others have said, it’s drinkable enough and does come in a cool jug.
