Well, going with the occasion, I didnt even pour this into a glass, but the aroma was fairly bland, with some roasty porter notes and some hoppy pale ale notes. Flavor really was better than I was expecting. Kind of like a light pale ale with some roasted barley and toasted malt in there too. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 4, 2008 bottle caught my eye Deep red color. Not what I was expecting. I guess I was expecting something the consistency of used motor oil to ooze from the bottle. Big fluffy head, pour with caution or you’ll end up waiting a couple days before you even get to try your beer. More hops in the nose than in the mouth. A watery mouthfeel for a B&T. If I hadn’t read the label, I’d have thought I was drinking a dark-colored amber lager rustbucket0873 (146), Krikville, New York, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 29, 2008 It pours a nice dark amber-mahogany with a thick, pale beige, fairly persistent head. Aroma is malty and has just a hint of fruit. Flavor is malty and has touches of smoke and molasses, pleasant but not thick or mouth-filling. Texture is smooth and just a little watery. Not too shabby.
Hey, how come it’s called Mississippi Mud when it’s brewed in New York? ;) ZeidleBrew (8), , Connecticut, USA does not count | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 22, 2008 Jug. Black beer with a creamy head. Nothing particularly complex about the flavor, a fairly smooth and solid blend. As the name suggests, it feels somewhat thick on the palate. A favorite beer to toss in the back of a pickup truck and take off-roading. thegreenrooster (1835), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 13, 2008 Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is roastey and somewhat nutty. Flavor is very watery with some malty mess. Finish is again watery and not very good. I would not call this a porter by any means. Cool jug contanier though.
