Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

A deep red beer with a small brown disappearing head. The aroma is sweet and roasted. The flavor is dry with notes of metal and a hoppy end, while the body is flat.

(Bottle 94,6 cl) Clear, warm, dark, amber golden with a dense, creamy, off-white laces. Lightly acidic, caramelish aroma. Thin and sloppy body with notes of sour/sweet caramel malt and some cardboard. Basically no bitterness. Not much of a Porter - not much of a beer really. Best thing about this is the fake "ceramic" quart bottle and then it’s cheap price of $3. 260307

Bottle, thanks to fonefan. Pours dark orange, clear and with a diminished off-white head. Barley, malty and light whiskey like aroma. Flavour is dry malty, caramel and light spiced note. Mild and light oxidiced finish.

Bottled. Nut brown. Yeasty nose. Some toffee and roastiness, but it's completely dominate by sharp, thin, metallic emptiness. An expensive drain pour!

Bottle. 120cl. [Tasting @ Ølbaren, Copenhagen]. Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, fair - good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, grain, bread, dust. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (110308)

Actually a brown and golden, made from porter and lager. But more to the point, it is really light and the lager taste kind of overwhelms the porter taste, which is actually quite scary. I only managed to finish half of that big jug before moving on to better things.
