Commercial Description:
Enough of these and you may find cause to celebrate. Bumping the legal limit for alcohol percentage in Tennessee, this one is a bit of a hop bomb. Not quite as explosive as a western double IPA, this one nonetheless packs an impressive punch both in malty background and upfront hop presence. Were it not for the richness of the 100% English Marris Otter base malt, this beer would be all about the signature Centennial Hops. Instead expect citrusy grapefruit, and lesser mint and pine hops flavors to combine with the roasty notes of the base malt and the minor chocolate notes of the cara-munich malt. Perfect for wet, cold winter evenings, this one will warm your bones and free your soul.

Golden pour with an off white creamy head and lace. Aroma of a pine tree with lemons on it. Medium malt with a nice bitter that just continues to grow on you. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Well balanced beer of the day for me.

On tap at the brewery 5/31/08: Pours a hazy golden bronze with a spotty-lacing white head. Fresh resiny hoppy nose with some lightly sweet toasty pale malt. Body starts fairly full and caramely sweet with a good crisp piny hoppy flavor and bitter balance before a drier bittersweet finish. A nice APA.

Brownish tan, small beige head. Mellow aroma of floral and citrusy hops. smooth at first, with a nice hop bite - very floral and citrusy, just like the aroma. some nice winey notes at the finish. Very tasty. Sampled at the 2008 open house.

Mandarin orange hops. Slightly sweet body. Could use a little more malt backbone. Kind of toasty in the finish. Not a bad APA.

New rating for Noogfest High 5. The beer was a little brighter and more enjoyable for me. Old rating follows. Tap at the brewery. The body was dark amber colored. The aroma was grapefruit and grass. The taste was bitter with some bread crust and grass. A decent brew, but a little boring.

This poured a copper color with a white head. The aroma contains some caramel and citrus mainly oranges. The flavor is rather bitter with some oranges and pine showing through. I’m not a huge fan of single hop IPAs but this one worked ok. Overall not bursting with complexity but a decent IPA.

Draft pint at brewery. Copper with a creamy off-white head that settles to a ring and left light lace. Aromas of pine and spice with a backing of citrus and toasted malt. The flavor of pine and citrus with a light woody malt backing. Medium body and a smooth medium bitterness.
