Commercial Description:
An easy going session beer consisting of equal parts wheat and American 2 Row Malt. What about the watermelon you say? Chunks of fresh watermelon are juiced and the juice is reduced under low heat and added during the second stage of fermentation. Some of the melon essence ferments but a very slight aroma and sweetness remain. A refreshing light bodied ale that won’t put you under the table (unless you want to be).

Can sampled on 11/8/06: Pours a clear, nearly still pale golden. Aroma of watermelon fruitiness and mildly malted wheat. Body starts with a subtly tart watermelon flavor thinning toward a bland finish. An interesting concept, but needs more body.

Draft. Hazy golden color with a mild aroma of watermellon. Light malt character but it didn’t see, very wheaty to me. Light bodied.

From a keg at the unfinished brewery thanks to Chris. Poured a slightly hazy medium orange with a rather long-lasting whitish head. Aroma had a fresh watermelon seed character on top of a pleasant lemony wheat base. Flavor found about the same stuff.. the watermelon was fresh and the base moderately tart. Crisp and refreshing finish. Note: per Chris, the canning machine went nuts and a whole bunch of the cans out there are more water than beer. This was really a solid effort.

A yeasty, even funky yeasty wheat beer. We notice the inclusion, the infusion of white yeast there. On a light yellow body. A medium mouthfeel with this mellon-gourd flavouring. So-so, to drink but once. Not overcarbonated, a tad astringent. Not very drinkable but not a complete waste.

From a can, courtesy of Springslicker. Slightly cloudy yellow, no head. Faint, sweet candyish watermelon aroma. Way too thin bodied. Hint of watermelon flavor, maybe a touch of wheat character. But really just too watery.

2008 Southern Brewers Fest . Tap. Fitted with a slice of Watermelon on the rim of the glass. It quickly got tossed. As Burt Reynolds has quoted, "don’t fruit the beer". Poured a cloudy yellow. Funky, rotted fruit aroma. Flavor of malted wheat. Tart. after a big gulp from the mug, there is a slight essence of melon. Besides that... No fruit. Stale finish of watermelon rind bitterness. Not desirable, even on a summer day.

A hazy golden/orange pour. Watermelon flavor is there as well as sweet wheat with a tad of bitter. An even smooth palate with good carbonation and mouth feel. A surprise to say the least. Brought a growler home and it was good as well. Not bad.
