motelpogo (4111), Plzen, Czech Republic Jul 3, 2004 amazingly black and thick and rich with an off-white head. aroma of cocoa powder. despite seeming to have very little sweetness, i tasted sultanas, molasses, strawberry jam and a drop of espresso. very full for a czech dark beer, probably the most stout-like one i´ve tried thewolf (3631), Kolding, Denmark Jul 12, 2008 Tap @ the brewpub.
By far their best beer. Pours a deep mahogany red with a wonderful, creamy, small, beige head. Aroma is pleasantly malty, some grain and good degree of roasted malts. Fine, creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is pleasantly sweet, but never too much. Nice combination of caramel and roasted malts. Hops and roasted malts combine nicely in the finish. Nice. Quack-Duck (1755), Bodensee, Germany Mar 23, 2008 PETka z pivovaru. Very dark, nearly nlack colour, large beige head. Malty nose. Full-bodied, flavours of caramel, chocolate and cocoa powder, also roasted malt. Slightly hoppy, not too sweet overall. MartinT (4330), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 25, 2008 My Bottom Line:
This cherry-flavored mokaccino of a Tmavé thrives on its sensual body and elaborate malt complexity. Another highly successful Modra Hvezda product.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thick layer of foam covers the apparently clear ruby-tinged dark brown.
-There are few hops in this one, even in the finish.
-The nose is rather fruity, swaying from cherries to cranberries, from raisins to prunes.
-The body on this one is as hedonistic as their Polotmavé’s.
