garrison (426), Cin. city, Ohio, USA Aug 18, 2007 Updated: Aug 21, 2007 On tap and from a bottle at the Moerlein "Brewhaus" (the old "Elder Cafe") in the "Over The Rhine" neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio - This one pours a dark, dark red liquid with a fast-fading, thin tan head and a mild malty aroma. I’d also like to add that the Hallertau hops certainly give this brew a different balance than Moerlein’s OTR Ale, with a strong carbonization of the malts being the strongest flavor factor.
alexsdad06 (618), Ohio, USA Feb 2, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a small diminishing beige head. The aroma is carmel malty goodness mixed with a bit of buttered toast. The flavor begins with a nice mildly sweet caramel maltiness that transitions to taosted bread with some hoppy bitterness. The funk that appears for a brief time is only a minor distraction. Easy drinking solid, yet unspectacular beer. 5000 (2400), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Jan 1, 2008 Bottle: Deep amber, moderate to large fluffy off-white head, decent lacing.   Malty nose, very minor sweet cereal.   Quite
malty on the tongue, little to no hop bite.   Smooth, perhaps a touch of cereal in there but otherwise clean.   Body and mouthfeel
are moderate.   I must say this one is better than I expected.   Perhaps it is because the last few beers I had weren’t all that
good.   Minor sweetness on the finish.   Pretty plain, average, but clean and easy drinking with a good malt base.   Not half
bad!   Thanks Craig for the freebie!
captianoats (25), Jasper, Indiana, USA Dec 16, 2007 Updated: Mar 9, 2008From Bottle: Amber color with a sweet, roasted aroma. Flavor has hops, sweetness, and some light bready notes. Overall, not a bad brew. bhensonb (2832), Woodland, California, USA Dec 2, 2007 Bottle. Caramel nut aroma. Dark amber color with a decent beige head. Near medium mouthfeel with fizzy carbonation. The flavor is bready caramel with a decent amount of hop bitter. MIght be some vanilla lurking within. The finish is more dry than sweet, and the bitter builds. May be the best lager I have had from the Lion Brewery. BillKismet (1388), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 30, 2007 Copper colored with thick, airy foam head. Toasted, nutty, honey, cereal aroma with mild caramel. Flavor of mild maltiness, some biscuit notes, and light caramel and munich malts, with some dankness on the finish. Medium-bodied. The elements never quite come together the way one would hope.
