cbkschubert (1611), Rattlesnake Country, Arizona, USA Jun 3, 2008 On tap @ 1702 - Pours a hazy golden color with a thin white head. Light lacing. Aroma is wheat malt, light banana, and spices. Flavor is light malt, light esters (banana), and spice (cloves). Light to medium body. This was no thin, flavorless Widmer Wheat beer. It was decent as American wheat beers go. Worth a try if you can find it.
eaglefan538 (2079), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 6, 2006 Updated: Jun 25, 2007Re-rate, 6/07: A better showing this time around, banana malty base, yet full of clovey spices in the finish. Sweet and malty for sure, and at 5.9pct ABV, this was more like a higher octane Franziskaner than a sessionable Hefe. Flavor profile fairly good, a touch too sweet, certainly no American hop profiles detected this time around. Original rating: Ok, not a bad one, but boy, this wasn’t the traditional hefe. Poured a cloudy pale yellow color with a modest but not impressive head. The flavor improved as it warmed, revealing a nice banana and clove-like profile. However, the hops used kinda turned me off (American?) and the beer wasn’t up there with the best of its style. Bockyhorsey (2033), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 8, 2005 Aromas of spice and citrus. Cloudy yellow color with white head. Had a good mix of tangy citrus flavor. Seem to be a little differeant than other hefe’s I’ve had. It was a hot day and pool side this was a good refreshing beer. turbo (1248), Arizona, USA Jul 7, 2005 Bottle poured a cloudy orange yellow with a good head and lacing.
Aroma is spice, citris and yeast.
Flavor is citris and very light yeast with a spicy, tangy finish. erway (1001), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Jul 26, 2004 Pours with a big head on top a cloudy yellow beer. Some Clove and Vanilla but no banana. Nice flavors but the fizziness of forced CO2 kinda kills it. Hefe’s should only be served from the bottle with natural sediment. Kegging them is kinda like putting tits on a bull.
