smith4498 (258), Miami, Florida, USA May 5, 2008 Pours hazy golden color with white head. Sweet yeasty bread dough aroma. Mildly sweet flavor with some yeast and spices. Crisp and refreshing with a dry finish. Light to medium body with a lively carbonation. A very nice saison.
JoeMcPhee (3628), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 16, 2008 750 ml 2007 bottle. Pale amber, tan-gold beer with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma is awesome, bright citrusy lemony character over a soft leathery spiciness. Zesty and lightly earthy. Lots of bright corky goodness. Rich and cologney with lots of pear/apple esters. Very spicy and peppery with a lot of flinty dryness. Quite astringent, but despite that, I quite like it. A bit of swirling softens the carbonation and makes it a much more enjoyable brew. Quite a bit maltier and richer than I typically imagine a saison to be, but it’s pretty solid nonetheless. Slayer85 (430), Firenze, Italy Jul 15, 2008 750 ml bottle. An unclear dark golden beer with a rich and persistent white head. The aroma is very nice, hoppy and yeasty more than malty with notes of flowers, grass, lemon and spices. there is also a light sour note. The flavour has a medium sweetness, atouch of acidity and a good hoppiness in the finish. A mild spiciness with some banana notes. Medium body, average/lively carbonation, dry quite long finish with medium bitterness. Plesant beer, maybe maltier flavours than a normal Saison and complex enough to gain after every sip. fluffy (49), USA Jul 11, 2008 bought this as Dupont Foret. pours a cloudy caramel color. thick off white head. smells of yeast and overripe banana. taste has a sharp bite. spicier than most belgian ales. light fizziness with tart apple flavor. a big pricey due to the organic ingredents and the shipping cost. but pretty interesting.
DuffMan (1868), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 11, 2008 Dirty straw yellow, towering head of tiny bubbles. Flowery/perfumey aroma, then yeasty/musty. Sweet straw-like malts, perfumey flavour (rosewater?), some citrus, and doughy yeast. Very nice. TheGent (11), , Massachusetts, USA Jul 9, 2008 When bottle was opened i got a skunky smell but that wasn’ there after it was in the glass. smell became fruity malt. Brownish yellow color in the pur, the flavor was doughy with a bitter dry finsish. I’ve desiced this is one of my least favorite styles.
