| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 23, 2008 Bottle. Weak smoky aroma. Hazy dark red colour, hint of brown. Nice stable light brown head. The flavour starts off quite dry, then there is some smoke, turning into a very roasted bitterness. The smoke is not as powerful as some other smoked beers, but quite distinct. The roast barley bitterness is a lot like some stouts. Good, full mouthfeel, slightly creamy. pivnizub (5100), Bochum, Porúří, Germany

Excellent by Dutch standards........... MoritzF (5080), Bochum, Germany
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 23, 2006 (bottle) Hazy orange to amber colour with a short yellow foamy head. Elegant fruity and smoked malt aroma. Moderately sweet and initially soft smoked malty taste with a fruity touch, medium bodied, almost lively carbonated; dry and strong smoky meaty finish. This one is much more “franconian” than the Veenrook by De Gouwe which I had before, but has also its own elegant fruity character. Dank u well, bierkoning ! JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 24, 2005 Reddish-amber, hazy; small cream-coloured head. Gelderse Ringworst ( a Dutch light-smoked sausage), bit of cigarette ash. Nice, meaty, smoked taste, also a bit fruity, fruity esters. Quite well-bodied, and, sorry, fleshy. Very good, and original Rauchbier, different from the Bamberg ones, but not inferior in any way. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2005 Dutch Ratebeer meeting. Hazy yellow/orange coloured, big white head. Lightly smoked aroma, which is more obvious in flavour. Some malts and sweetness make it a balanced brew. I really like Dutch brewers experimenting with more unusual styles. jbrus (4903), Delft, Netherlands
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 10, 2005 Bottled. Malty and light smoked aroma. Not promising anything for the rest. But the flavors is great. Light sweet, light bitter, very smooth, very nice smoked ale. Hazy, yellow color, firm white head, good lace.
