Served as a healthy sampler at a Mead seminar for my local homebrew club. The color was deep amber, with no head or lacing but with a clinging nature as it was swirled in the glass. The aroma was floral, slightly herbal, sweet honey, light licorice and spice. The aroma was the show, although the flavor added some alcohol to the syrupy, sticky, and sweet, full bodied liquid. Served at the end of the seminar to exemplify one of the finest in the style, and I had to agree.

Clear orange color with virtualy none head. Aroma is moderate honey, heather, heather honey, anis. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average duration, and a spicy finish. Body is medium to full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20090731]

Bottle at The Pembury Tavern, London
Amber color, dark, still. Light aroma of forest honey, perfumy honey too. Good body, sweet, a bit syrupy, with some honey flavor, very light herbs, balanced bitterness; in the end it’s warming, but there is never any disturbing alcohol. Excellent.

Very smooth and clear. A bit above average. Easy drinking, LCBO winter and decent value. Mild honey smell. Above average mouthfeel.

At Bromham Mill, Bedfordshire at a stall selling fruit wines and other various unpleasant concoctions made from rose petals and the like. Gold. Sweet aroma. Sweet taste. It’s sweet. No hint of alcohol that I could discern. Just sweetness and more sweetness.

bottled, thanks tom. deep golden, simple honey aroma, quite thick but not too cloying, some vanilla, a faint herbal quality but hard to discern beyond the obvious honey sweetness
