CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 15, 2007 On tap at the 10th Annual San Diego Strong Ale Festival: Pours a hazy dark copper orange with a wispy-lacing off-white head. Sweet toasty dark caramel malty aroma has some fresh citrusy grapefruity hops. Body starts pretty full and sweet with nice, toasty caramel notes, a touch of light fruit and a smooth bittersweet hoppy finish. A well-balanced and enjoyable barley wine. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Feb 7, 2007 10th Annual SD Strong Ale Fest: Poured a very hazy brownish amber color with a tan head. The aroma was malty, toasty and nutty. Malty and nutty flavor with a big piney hop flavor that grows and grows. Moderately bitter and a very long finish. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA Feb 5, 2007 on tap at SD strong ale fest. lots of yeast flavors-- some wheat, bready, rye... alongside some brows sugar and some piney tangerine hopped flavors. some whiskey flavors as well. a good barleywine. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Jan 1, 2007 Tasted on tap at the 2006 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. This barley wine poured a medium brown color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is brown sugar, malt and citrus. A medium bodied Barley Wine. Malts are caramel and sweet, bready and cookie. Hops are citrusy. The malts really shine in this beer, which highlight the brown sugar and orange flavors. Very smooth tasting, although there is a bit of an alcohol bite to it. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
