Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Feb 19, 2008 Bottled. Poured medium-deep brown with an explosive cap of tan head.. I’m talkin’ 3/4 of the glass worth. The aroma was soft and dusty with dry chocolate, raw oats, and light dark fruit skins represented.. pleasant enough, but it seemed a touch off. The flavor had dry, somewhat abrasive chocolate and dark fruits on the core surrounded by herbal and spicy notes.. the finish had a drawn-out, ugly, tacky sourness that attached to chocolate that didn’t have much character to it.. kept going downhill the longer I drank it. A bit shy of medium-bodied, and it didn’t feel too good on the palate. Meh. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 01/06/2000

BelgianBeerGal (1273), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 30, 2007 Draft at the casino. Nice appearance but there was something missing that I can’t quite ID. The taste just seemed slight with a thin mouthfeel. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Dec 4, 2006 Nice and dark, coffee in the aroma and flavor. Not too dry, just a fairly decent coffe stout. Not something I like in my stout too much, but this one was okay. jsquire (2086), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Nov 8, 2006 On tap at the Monte Carlo. Dark mahogany beer with a foamy light brown head. The roasted grain nose had hints of malted milk balls. Dusty chocolate flavors with some berry sweetness, roasted grains and an almost maple flavor. Lightish for a stout. Boutip (2332), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Oct 19, 2006 Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a bid bubbly dark brown head with average retention. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee is dominant and very interesting overall. Taste is dominated by slightly bitter malt with long coffee finish. Body is about average and carbonation is a bit too lively for the style. Bottle was drank at close to room temperature, which really powered the coffee side of this beer. I thought this beer was very enjoyable overall. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Oct 10, 2006 Tap, Monte Carlo. Very dark pour. Weak malty flavor with only a little roastiness. Slightly sweet mmilky flavor. A hint of coffee with a little bit of a bitter finish. Fairly bland for a stout. Slacks (480), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Sep 14, 2006 Draught @ The Brewpub: The bartender took his time pouring this one properly, and I even caught him pouring himself one, which I figured meant I was in for a treat. Never trust a thin chef, or something along those lines. This one is all roast and toast in all aspects. Pours jet black with a thick oatmeal-y head that made it almost all the way to the end. Aroma of roasted malts and currants, hint of oatmeal. Flavour was awesome off the top with roasted malts, toasted cereals, and hints of coffee. Nice all the way through, I was surprised to find something so good in a hotel brewpub.
