Commercial Description:
Silver State Stout is a dry, yet suprisingly smooth version of a traditional Irish Stout. A complex blend of six types of barley and oatmeal create a complex flavor profile and rich mouth-feel.

Had a burning odor anlong with nutty aroma. Body was black and a had little to no head. Also looked like oil spilled in some water. First gulp was decent then turned to a watered down beer that was awefull. Probly rated this to high but must not of been to bad I drank it all.

Pours dark brown to black with a nice tight tan head that lingers. Aroma of roasted, black patent malts with a little bit of coffee/chocolate. Nice roasty flavor with nice subtle coffee/chocolate flavor as well. Smooth, dry but not too much so, and quite drinkable. I liked this one quite a bit, seemingly much more so than other raters.

Poured black with hint of crimson in the light. Deep roasted aroma, black patent malt a bit overdone. Dry finish, a bit too bitter and on the thin side.

Pours a nearly opaque black with a thin tan head. Has a dry, grainy, mild vegetable aroma with some roasted malt. Starts with a decent thickness, some sweet maltiness, hints of soy and a touch of hoppy bitter balance. Overall pretty drinkable and not as bad as its ratings may suggest.

Very dark with mahogany highlights. Aroma is promising with coffee, molasses and nuts. Thin body. Alcohol flavour. All the flavours in the aroma are not present in the beer. Like watered down molasses.

Ended up with a bottle of this at some point. Poured deep walnut with no head. The aroma was creamy, nutty, with a touch of peat. The flavor had wood, peat, light molasses or caramel (not sure which). Body was creamy but watery. Overall the flavors did not do it for me. Nothing I’d have again, but I think that this result is somewhat a result of the style.

again, a very weak, almost non-existant nose, with what there was having some sweet chocolate character. the pour was beautiful, a deep brown with scarlet highlights and a creamy coffee colored head from the nitro. the front half of the flavor was also terrific, coffee giving way to chocolates, but then it turned rather sour and a little astringent. the biggest downer for me with this beer was its very thin and watery body. add that and the odd sour aftertaste, and my hopes of a top notch stout were dashed.

There was something odd about this beer - it had an ok dark brown appearance but then had problems from there. It had moments of light roasty mocha normalcy but plenty of sour aromas and flavours. Just too thin and lingeringly off for me.
