Commercial Description:
Named after our riverboat, the Betsy Ann on the Alabama in downtown Montgomery, when you drink this deep amber ale you can taste darker caramel malts that leave your palate with a clean, slightly sweet malty flavor. Fuggles and lots of cascade hops contribute to the smooth balance with a slight fruity-floral finish.

Appearance: Garnet-hued body with a dense, lush off-white head. Smell: Altogether bland aroma with only faint hint of caramel and yeastiness. Taste: Light caramel maltiness with a bit of sweetness. Mild hop presence provides a faint tea-like bitterness and a hint of lemon. Bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A bit light on flavor, but it’s still pretty decent.

Drat poured into a shaker glass. Clear amber colour with a creamy, off-white head. Aroma and flavour just seemed a little dusty and flat. Drinkable but nothing exciting. Least favorite of their beers I tried.

On draught. Weak taste for a micro-brew but better than other commercial offerings. Malty flavor with a low hop character. Good, but not enough flavor.

Draught. Pours copper-amber with an average sized off-white frothy head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, caramel), average hops (grass), average yeast (dough) with notes of pear and chocolate. Light bodied, sticky texture, soft carbonation and a chalky finish. Light acidity, bitterness and sweetness; bland flavor.

Poured a reddish amber color with not much of a head, but pretty good lacing. The aroma was of light caramel, no hops. The flavor profile was simple, light caramel. Hops were present (not enough to keep this from being too sweet), none of the American varieties came through in the flavor (bittering only). Mouthfeel was typical.
