black with ruby highlights, bubbly tan head, sweet roasted chocolate aroma, big sweet carmel malt flavor, touch of roasted that gets stronger into a long finish without being too bitter, flavor does not quite live up to the aroma but does not dissapoint

Lightly roasted malt flavor. No hop profile at all. Not watery but very drinkable. Low complexity. Slightly flat carbonation. Good.

Draught. Pours dark brown with a spare light brown fizzy head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (chocolate, coffee, caramel), light hops (flowers), average yeast (leather) with notes of tar and smoke. Light bodied, thin-oily texture, flat carbonation and a chalky finish. Light sweetness, acidity and bitterness.

Poured the usual, slightly thin looking though. Head was very unimpressive, almost non-existent. Aroma was mostly of coffee. Flavor was watered down, coffee was the predominant flavor, but not all that good of a coffee flavor. Light chocolate underneath with some burnt embers in the flavor. Mouthfeel was light.

On premises. Clear, super dark ruby black, big khaki head that lasted for a while. Nice toasty malt aroma - light nuts. Coffee acidity is muted and the beer has an overall roasted character. Very smooth drinking session brew, pretty well buffered. Char builds in the finish. Medium body. Dry.

Well it certainly looked the part - black, with a thick brown head. Burnt aroma, with a slight cardboard note. Big coffee flavor, and finishes pretty dry. way off on the palate, though. very watery. Music City Brewer’s Fest, 2005

Draft at Music City Brewer’s Fest. Black as night in the glass with a light brown, creamy head. Deep coffee smells and flavor. The palate was off on this one with a light body and bit watery for a stout.
