black with ruby highlights, bubbly tan head, sweet roasted chocolate aroma, big sweet carmel malt flavor, touch of roasted that gets stronger into a long finish without being too bitter, flavor does not quite live up to the aroma but does not dissapoint

Dec 7, 2008 on tap-pours a light brown head and black color. Aroma is coffee/ash-dark malt, some bitter/earthy hops. Taste is coffee/ash-dark malt, some acidic/bitter/earthy hops. Thin, light side of medium body.

Apr 26, 2007 Draught. Pours dark brown with a spare light brown fizzy head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (chocolate, coffee, caramel), light hops (flowers), average yeast (leather) with notes of tar and smoke. Light bodied, thin-oily texture, flat carbonation and a chalky finish. Light sweetness, acidity and bitterness.

Oct 30, 2008 GABF 2008. Dark walnut brown. Nice roasty aroma, balance of coffee and chocolate. Palate is thin and fizzy, but the flavours hold up I suppose.

Aug 1, 2005 Well it certainly looked the part - black, with a thick brown head. Burnt aroma, with a slight cardboard note. Big coffee flavor, and finishes pretty dry. way off on the palate, though. very watery. Music City Brewer’s Fest, 2005
