Name: Wipe out Stout
Date: 03/24/2005
Mode: Draft
Source: Brewpub

black with ruby highlights, bubbly tan head, sweet roasted chocolate aroma, big sweet carmel malt flavor, touch of roasted that gets stronger into a long finish without being too bitter, flavor does not quite live up to the aroma but does not dissapoint

On premises. Clear, super dark ruby black, big khaki head that lasted for a while. Nice toasty malt aroma - light nuts. Coffee acidity is muted and the beer has an overall roasted character. Very smooth drinking session brew, pretty well buffered. Char builds in the finish. Medium body. Dry.

Light seeps into the body in ruby glints. This has the characteristic froth of the brewpub’s beers. Fairly big mocha aroma, sweet body. Good bit of toffee. Body is thin, though. Smells like a caramel macchiato from Starbucks.

Draft in a pint glass at the brewery. Opaque brown colour with minimal tan head. Chocolate dominates the aroma and flavour. Maybe a little thin, but still nice.

GABF 2008. Dark walnut brown. Nice roasty aroma, balance of coffee and chocolate. Palate is thin and fizzy, but the flavours hold up I suppose.
