craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Oct 21, 2009 draft sample at The 2009 Great Decatur Beer Festival on 10/17/09... deep golden color with a white head... big citrus hop nose... medium body... overall a really nice hop forward IPA... the hops really dominate the beer while the malts are lingering in the background... solid bitter IPA. KornDogg (168), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 26, 2009 My favorite out of the beers I was able to try at the brewery... well balanced hops with pine and caramel pintocb (505), Darsville, Georgia, USA Jun 29, 2009 Copper color. Piney aroma. The flavor was a bit harsh. Maybe could use more of a malty presence to balance the hops. suchen (81), , Pennsylvania, USA Mar 27, 2009 Not a fan of the style, but even so this was rather weak in my opinion. Very bitter, without a balancing maltiness anywhere. Flavor and aroma were very hoppy as should be expected. Even hop heads may not fall in love. TaktikMTL (2739), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada Mar 27, 2009 En fût. (Rating #2254) ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Feb 13, 2009 Appearance: Clear, yellow body with a thin, white head.
Smell: Big floral and citrus scent looming over a very thin, very light malt character.
Taste: Rather light pale maltiness that fails miserable to provide any sense of balance to the hops. A flash of flowers and Meyer lemon before the strong bitterness. Long, bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation. Very faint stickiness to the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: No thanks. A beer that’s altogether lacking in the malt department and relying on hop bitterness in lieu of hop flavor holds little interest for me. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 9, 2009 Slightly hazy light amber. The hop nose mixes marijuana and grapefruit. Creamy body is very bitter. Lots of woody, citrusy hop. Delicious. I wasn’t as impressed with the Triple-Hopped version that came out of the cask. That had an even creamier body that really just brought out too much sweetness; the nose also did not explode out of the glass as much. 7-3-6-3-13 = 3.2 Beershine (2677), Hue, Vietnam Feb 6, 2009 Medium gold with slight haze and nice lacing. Bright hoppy aroma is mainly fruity but also leafy. Nice creamy mouthfeel, medium thick body. Lingering hops are lovely. Berry and citrus rind esters. Very nice, easy but assertively hopped IPA that is the best in the regular lineup so far. The triple-dry hopped cask version was also available and interestingly was not as satisfying. Had an interesting aroma of lemon bars with crumble crust, lemon verbena, herbal, minty, and lemony sweet unexpectedly. Soft mouthfeel and astringent finish. Loads of herbs in the flavors--grassy, parsley, cilantro even. Odd beer that falls short of being session-friendly but is very interesting nonetheless (7-4-6-3-12)
