Very mild semi-sweet, semi-roasty aroma has some hints of chocolate. Starts very subtle, malty and well-roasted with some dark chocolate and coffee flavor. Thin bodied, but very drinkable. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2005 2005 GCBC. Nitro. What starts as a full 4 oz glass of foam cascades down to a perfect pour. Brown color with a medium sized long lasting creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Light chocolate roasty flavor. Dry finish with a smooth creamy mouthfeel. wunderbier (1267), Tampere, Finland
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2005 Shaker, nitro. Nearly black with clear ruby edges. Medium, creamy, light tan head. Cocoa, smoke, roasted, coffee, walnuts, brown sugar in the aroma. Very impressive for a nitro pour, or a dry stout in general. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter flavor. Lightly sweet, light to moderately bitter finish. Rich coffee flavor in the aftertaste but I fear that the nitro affects the flavor for the worse. Medium body, water texture, moderate carbonation. Comes across with a porter-like twang. BeerandBlues2 (3230), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 28, 2004 Black with a small tan head, fair lacing. A malt aroma with a coffee nose. Bitter and tart malt/coffee flavor. Dark and creamy palate, a little light and watery. aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 24, 2004 This was really a bit of a dissapointment overall for a stout, but it wasn’t bad. Dark ruby brown, but not quite black with that ultra-tiny bubble wet head from the nitrogen. The aroma had a very strong maple syrup and brown sugar character. The flavor was more of the same mixed in with some coffee, followed by a bit of bitterness in the finish. The flavor had that funny flavor that nitrogen dispensed beers always have and would be better without it. The body was definitely too thin for a stout, though. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Apr 7, 2004 Long lasting camel head. Similar coffee aroma as their porter, but starchier and with some creosote. Not quite opaque. Grassy and a little green, well bitter. Needs some more oomph to the body. Akin to an oyster stout. A bit watery. Medium coffee bitter finish. hopscotch (5511), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2004 Very dark, ruby-colored ale. Small, creamy, off-white head with poor retention and poor lacing.
The aroma is of chocolate and espresso. Vanilla and toasted cashews.
The flavor is well-bittered. Thin and watery. Very dry, though. Light-bodied with a dry mouthfeel. Lengthy, bitter, dry, burnt finish. kwoeltje (1326), Manchester, Missouri, USA
