Draft at brewpub. Opaque chocolate with a quarter inch, lasting creamy head that leaves a nice frosting on the glass. Aromas of cocoa and coffee. Flavors are similar with some caramel, and roasted walnut on the finish. Near-medium body is tingly and dry.

On tap at Moon River Brewing. Arrived at the table black with no head at all. Pleasant aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate and a bit of coffee. Smooth with mild bitterness at the finish. A solid porter.

Ratings by Veeve, Back by Popular Demand, on Vacay in the lovely Savannah, Georgia. This beer is found on tap at the MoonRiver restaurant and brewing site on Bay Street in Savannah, GA. This beer was my 2nd favorite personally but obviously objectively the best beer among the 7 beers of the sampler they were offering yesterday 5/22/08 and likely among all their beers as it is strikingly impressive. The description of this beer on the menu said: "Close your eyes, take a sip and think chocolate. Case in point - not all dark beers have to be sharp and bitter. Don’t be afraid of the dark." Well I AM CERTAINLY NOT AFRAID OF THE DARK. This beer is fantastic. Though it is bitter (despite the menu’s description), especially towards the finish, and in the aftertaste, it blends in perfectly with the overall balance of all the flavors and is not overwhelming. It has good lacing, two parallel lines broken up in light weak paisleys. good darker brown ring around the rim. dark brown sugar/coke hue. milk chocolate, coffee, bitterness. delicious.

Dark black, light tan head. Not much of a nose. Crunchy. Quite a crunchy texture. Toffee, coffee, some chocolate. Some bitterness. Very dirty tasting.

Pours a dark brown with good sized tan head. Aroma is roasted malt. Flavor is a roasted malt with a long creamy finish. Absolutely fabulous porter. If i lived near Savannah I would drink this all the time.

Solid porter, with coffee grinds in the offing and chocolate malt. Dark with mocha head and good lacing. SOme licorice and even possibly borrowing some orange and corriander from the other beers.
