Commercial Description:
Our wit beer (white beer) is an old style Belgian ale, brewed with wheat and barely , and spiced with Curacao bitter orange peel and coriander. The coriander and orange zest are detectable in the beer's aroma with a lingering, yet subtle "orangeiness." A unique one of a kind brew!
Moon River earned four medals at the 2005 Georgia Craft Brew Challenge hosted by Georgians for World-Class Beer. On Nov. 5, more than 200 lucky people packed the Biergarten at Atlanta’s 5 Seasons Brewing Company to taste the best beers made in Georgia. During the blind judging session, judges evaluated 35 beers and deemed:
• Belgian Ale Category: 1st Place - Wild Wacky Wit

Sampled at WBF in Durham - the only Wit I tried all day. Nice break from the porters and stouts. Poured a cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, spice and citrus. The taste was a refeshing citrus with some spice undertone and a wheaty finish. Not bad at all.

Not a bad wit, but if it’s Georgia’s best then they need to brew more of them! Aroma was very pleasant with the coriander really coming through for a floral, orangey goodness. The flavors were a bit lacking I think, but I’m a fan of using oat in these and not barley so perhaps a difference of style. Pour was a very nice cloudy yellow typical of the style.

(Rating #2252)

Appearance: Hazy, straw-colored yellow body with a thin, white head. Smell: Soft wheat nose attended by notes of citrus (predominately lemon) and coriander leaves. Taste: Lightly sweet, lightly tangy malted wheat taste leads, followed by a bright lemon and orange flavor and a dash of spicy coriander. Faint spicy hop character with a medium-low bitterness. Extremely faint hint of banana prior to the dry, spicy finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Fairly average, but would still make for excellent drinking in the swelteringly hot summers of Savannah.

Very good for the style. Spicy and tart lemon flavor. A little bit of pepper in the finish. Complex and enjoyable. Highly carbonated. Light bodied but full flavored.

Draft sample at Brewgrass. Bright golden cloudy pour. Thin big bubbly head. Bitter tart lemony (thin floor cleaner) and as is so easy to do with this style, too much coriander. Still quite drinkable and refreshing if you like this Wits.
