Nice off-white head with good retention. Yeasty, hoppy (citrus and pine) aroma with toast malt notes and slight fruitiness. Strong bitterness up front in flavor leading into toasty malt notes with slight sweetness. Resiny, citric hop flavor. Some moderate caramel flavors from crystal malts. Slight green apple note. Moderate-high carbonation. Rich mouthfeel (almost creamy). Medium-bodied with some alcohol warmth. mreeves (257), Sammamish, Washington, USA

A terrific surprise, with strong citusy hop aroma, hazy gold in appearance. The flavor is dominated by grapefruit and other citrus with a decent malt balance. Tastes fresh and very strongly hopped, a joy to consume. UofFkid (108), Orlando, Florida, USA

Arrived looking slightly hazy amber with a thin whitish head. Nice citrusy aroma, bit oof toasty malt and resiny evergreen notes. Bold hops in the flavor, with grapefruit peel and pine oil, moderate malt character, light toffee, and spicy astringent finish. Medium body, gentle carbonation. Enjoyable. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 7, 2007 draft sample: hazy orange, some retention and lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus, lighter fruits, touch of toast and caramel to back it. Solid IPA, but I want more hop flavor and more dryness. Dunk (35), SoCal, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 24, 2007 On tap @ Toronado. Amber / deep gold color w/ slight haze and minimal head. Solid hop and some fruit in the nose. Distinct hop flavor with some malt coming through. Finish was quite sweet which took away much of the satisfaction. Good up front but the finish just wasn’t that clean. WeeHeavySD (3041), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 20, 2007 Draft@Hamilton’s. Pours orange with a super thin bright white head. Aroma is light with a slightly muted hop aroma. Taste is a big mouthful of bitterness with some hops but not quite enough to back up the bitterness. Overall its decent but really this runs into a problem i’ve had with some IPAs on tap when the bitterness is more overpowering than the hops and it makes the beer undesirable to drink.
