Seems that 21st is carrying a lot more guest beers these days due to the overextended demands of canning their own beer and trying to serve tap beer to a thirsty public at the pub. This beer pours dark brown with a big beige head. The finish is tart sourness. Has a strong chocolate aroma. Great lacing left behind in the glass. The finish is very drying and chalky. Again, a WAY overrated beer by some. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA

Strong smoked flavor with a slight fruitiness. Clean, dry finish with a residual smokiness. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany

Nice roasted malt nose - medium long lasting. I would say this is not a Schwarzbier. It is a unique creation - and that is truly tasteable. unclemattie (2416), Georgia, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 22, 2007 On tap @ the Linkery. Dark color, aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Flavor is strong on the coffee with a sour, almost bitter finish. A little watery - almost like a foreign stout. Pretty good as a session beer, but nothing about this beer grabs my attention. Lightly burned, licorice-like aroma. Medium body with roasted - lightly burned - malt, again with some licorice. Very bitter finish. Excellent. 250307 AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jan 16, 2007 Had on tap at Hydro in Calistoga. Very dark colored, very light-bodied, VERY FLAVORFUL. Most schwarz’s I’ve had previously fell short in the flavor category, but not this one. It had as much flavor as a dark and robust porter. Actually, that’s exactly what it tasted like. Plenty of roasted/burnt malt flavors and aromas dominate the profile of this bad boy. Nice. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 5, 2007 Pours with a dark brown body topped by a thin head and little lacing. It’s bitter and roasty with a slight malt character and a little sourness. Light to medium bodied and a touch dry.
