Draft. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of butter and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet and buttery with notes of roasted malt and chocolate, leading to a roasted finish. More like a mild than a Schwartzbier.

(On tap - Toronado) Completely opaque black with a dense and creamy, beige head leaving laces. Lightly burned, licorice-like aroma. Medium body with roasted - lightly burned - malt, again with some licorice. Very bitter finish. Excellent. 250307

From tap at Flavour. Pours dark brown with a small deep amber glare and a slowly collapsing tan head. Aroma is light butterish and roasted. Bitter and roasted malt flavoured with a light butterish note coming through. Ends slight butterish.

Draught at Toronado, San Francisco. Opaque black, no head. Sweetish and very roasty with clean rounded mouthfeel. Dominated by hop flavours - grapefruit and licorice. The malt character is it’s weak side - it’s very clean and straightforward, leaving it far behind the top examples of the style.

Dark brown colour. Fairly rich malty, chocolatey aroma. Full malt character is sweet and rounded with light roasty accents. Has a bit of chewiness and, surprisingly, late alcohol. Drinks fairly big.

Tap in The Rake. Alround rating: Very burnt black malt, seriously roasty, a bit of sweetness, grassy hop, the carbonation is very fine. Im guessing if your into roastyness this would be awsome. Im not but its still an alright drink due to the carbonation.
