On tap at 515 in Santa Cruz. Coppery amber color with a long lasting, creamy, tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma is nutty with caramel and maybe a little bit of orangey hop influence. Flavor is deep dark caramel and maple syrup up front which melts into a piney resinous hoppy finish. Moderate bitterness. A little heavy on the palate for the style. Pretty good beer overall.

On cask @ Toronado. Pours a deep amber color with a lacing offwhite head. Sweet, roasted nut aroma. Sweet, bready body, a little nutty with a bit of a bitter, roasted almond finish. Easily drinkable and tasty, what a concept...

On cask at Toronado in San Francisco. Medium-dark brown in color with a white head. Aroma is caramel malt and hops. Flavor is more of the same, with a little malty sweetness and a dry, bitter finish. Palate is average, nothing stands out. I am not a huge fan of the style, but this is definitely a good example.

On tap at Toronado, San Francisco, with Phyllis, 24th Mar 09. A bit murky dark amber. Lots of caramel malt, almost stale and lots of bitterness but the two halves feel detached - you get one then the other (reminds me of another beer that did that, but I can’t remember what that was).

Poured into a liter mug at Gestalt in San Francisco. Nice dark amber pour with a indistinct white head. Decent caramel aroma and a nice bitter bite and very easy to drink in large amounts.

On cask at Toronado. Brown with a fluffy white head. Good citrus hops and grain taste. Quite good.

Draft @ Hopmonk Tavern, Sebastopol, CA. Pours a dark amber color color with a small off-white head. Has a malty hoppy caramel aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy caramel flavor. Has a sweetish malty caramel finish with a slighlty bitter aftertaste.

On tap at Flavor in Santa Rosa. Dark amber color, dry bitter, tasty, tho. I liked it.
