Gravity cask at Maidstone BF. Black colour beige head. Choc/coffee/liquorice aromas, good in mouth with drying finish and some dark fruit. Good strong dark beer which doesn’t allow the strength to over run it.

Black beer. Head is dark brown with reddish hue, and rather short-lived. Very vinous nose, some solvent (red) grapey, some smoked notes, like firewood. Good! Sharp, sourish taste, woody & piney (resin). [Beer is a few months past its BBd date, but at 7+ ABV...]. Again very vinous, touch of lactic, acetic, and some other acid - malonic? - not sure. Esters à volonté . Unripe fruit (green plums especially) and a bit of tobacco. Sharp, but not adstringent, some dry out effect. Medium to well-bodied. Like it. Very vinous beer.

Deep, deep, dark brown with purple edges. Tons of chocolate. Good to great mouthfeel. Lots of lingering chocolate after the fact.

Cask conditioned. This won at the Camra Winter Festival last year, and fully deserved. This is full of chcolate and coffee flavours all wrapped up in a sweet yet sour blanket.

Cask developed through to perfection at Kett’s Tavern by mine host of the arcane arts. Truly a most divine old ale.

Full bodied. Concentraded x-mas pudding in a cask. Long, lingering sweetness, and you can even taste the hops through all this. (IBU 80?)

Cask conditioned at the Twickenham Beer Festival. Very dark, pitch black and no light can penerate. Strong flavoured, smokey, roasty, burnt malt and slightly acidic character.
