Choc/coffee/liquorice aromas, good in mouth with drying finish and some dark fruit. Good strong dark beer which doesn’t allow the strength to over run it. JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 5, 2005 Black beer. Head is dark brown with reddish hue, and rather short-lived. Very vinous nose, some solvent (red) grapey, some smoked notes, like firewood. Good! Sharp, sourish taste, woody & piney (resin). [Beer is a few months past its BBd date, but at 7+ ABV...]. Again very vinous, touch of lactic, acetic, and some other acid - malonic? - not sure. Esters à volonté . Unripe fruit (green plums especially) and a bit of tobacco. Sharp, but not adstringent, some dry out effect. Medium to well-bodied. Like it. Very vinous beer. legion242 (1586), Richardson, Texas, USA

This is full of chcolate and coffee flavours all wrapped up in a sweet yet sour blanket. TomSpears (65), Norfolk, England
