Magic_dave6 (4012), London, Greater London, England Jun 23, 2008 Cask in Blackfriars. Alround a solid bitter. Aroma is peppery, earthy, leafy citric hop, biscuity malt backing. Taste is similar, not too complicated, just easy drinking. fonefan (4884), Ulfborg, Denmark Jun 7, 2008 Cask gravity @ Reading Beer Festival 2008. Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderae to heavy hoppy, flowers, citrus. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (020508) harrisoni (5382), Ashford, Kent, England Jun 3, 2008 Cask gravity at Reading BF 08. Slight haze gold. Thin off white head. Bit of yeast and butter on aroma. It’s ok, but a bit too buttery for me. Decent hop though. Crunchie (27), Somerset, England May 29, 2008 Tasted last week, 23rd of May, and this beer has now almost realised it’s full potential. The cask blew due to a dodgy batch of shives and did lose that fresh, upbeat condition you always get for the first few hours of the beer being on - yet it didn’t matter. Tropical, asian, citrus aromas bound around with gentle but assertive caramel malt holding it up. Limes, lemons, oranges, grapefruits, lemongrass scents alongside more piney, grassy, almost flash spray cleanliness. In the mouth more of the same, lemongrass and grapefruit come to the fore and the element that was always just missing before, the malt to balance the big bitterness, exerts itself. A long bitter, citrus finish is very dry. A highly refreshing, full flavoured beer that may go well with curries, barbecues, seafood or simply get nicely pissed. Doppelganger (1206), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England May 17, 2008 Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd, Oxford. Pale copper, clean white head. Tart tinned grapefruit aroma, (like the stuff I used to drink in college to ward off the scurvy) a nice flowery perfume. Fresh tart grapefruit peal flavor, lingering dry spice. Delicate, bright, and a lots of flavor for the abv.
