Aug 6, 2008 Cask, New Oxford, Salford. Exceedingly dark brown colour; virtually black. Dissipating light brown head. Aroma packed with dark malt and coffee. Similar flavour with some sweetness and shades of licorice. Bitter finish. Pretty complex for a 3.4% brew. Meeow.

Classic dark mild appearance. Sweet strawberry aroma. A little watery, but not thin. Some esters, well balanced, and a big roasty taste. Finish is burnt, but not astringent.

Jun 8, 2008 [Cask at the Oakford Social CLub, Reading] Large soft creamy head with a hint of coffee. Beer itself is rather bitter for a mild; also rather watery. Some red fruits come through later. Vary easy drinking, and flavours improved as I drank more - the second pint was nicer than the first.

May 17, 2008 Cask-conditioned at the Edgar Wallace, London WC2 16/5/08. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Slightly roasted aroma with some bitter chocolate. Light mouth feel with a touch of fruit and coffee, before a slightly sweet finish. Ok.

Feb 7, 2008 Cask @ Battersea Beer Festival ’08. Pours dark red / brown, thin bubbly head. Aroma is smoky, roasted malts. Taste is earthy, breadlike, dark malts, slight sweetness. Not bad, but could be better.

Feb 7, 2008 Cask @ Battersea Beer Festival 2008. Nose is perfumed, floral and malty with a hint of roasted malts. Pours a dark red/brown beer with a small frothy. Soft mouth feel and delicate. Sweetness in the finish. Too simpkle.

Jan 28, 2008 Pours near black with reddish hues with light tan head. Tastes of bread, earthy malt, caramel, and pepper. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. Pretty nice.
