Cask @ Volunteer Arms, GBBF 2006. Dark brownish/black colour with a longlasting tan head. Roasted malty, slightly smoky aroma. Sweet roasted malty flavor with some smoky hints.. Malty finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Cask at Wenlock Arms, London. Clear dark brown with little head. Blackened malt aroma with a hint of licorice. Strange vinous flavor like a dank coalbin. Distinct but not immediately appealing.

Cask at Watermill Inn, Ings, Lake District. A brilliant lunchtime pint. Looks like a stout and has a lot of the roasty stout flavours. Hint of chocolate. Amazing body for such a low abv. Could drink loads of it!

Cask at Yew and Ewe, Brookland. Black in colour, chocolate malt on nose, almost petroly. Excellent malts with grainey burnt malt finish. Some acidity and goodish length finish. One of my favourite dark milds. Wonderful, can drink it all night as it is only 3.4% Re-rate cask handpull at Yew Tree Inn Barfrestone. Even better than before. Excellent choc/coffee aroma but just gorgeously mild. Body is satisfying and the finish is long and exciting. So much flavour for a beer so weak

(sampled cask-conditioned at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Dark brown, bubbly beige head. Vague malty and roasty aroma. Nice and well composed malty flavour of dark chocolate and blck currant. Long malty aftertaste.

Cask @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm April 13 2005
Pitch black, but surprisingly un-burned in aroma. Almost no hints of dark malts. Light body. Just a hint of chocolate. Sweet aftertaste.
RERATE: Cask @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm
Liqourice and burned bacon in aroma. Thin but well balanced taste with roasted and burned malts. An easily downed session mild.
