Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Almost black. Coffee aroma. Medium sweet with creamy, filling mouthfeel. Notes of licorice and chocolate. Solid and extremely flavourful for a 3.4% beer. Salty, bitter finish. What a session beer!!

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2007, London. Medium black color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, coffee, smoke, ash, coal. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and light bitter with a long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat.

Cask@Akkurat. Very dark ruby red colour, mediumsized brown creamy head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, spices and some smoke. Flavour is quite the same, but a bit thin. Still a very pleasant cask ale.

Red-mahogany color. A good mix of (light) malt and caramel, lightly fruity too; luckily there is no roasted malt, unfortunately there is a light metallic touch. The final, well bitter, is also a bit harsh. Enjoyable.

Cask at Yew and Ewe, Brookland. Black in colour, chocolate malt on nose, almost petroly. Excellent malts with grainey burnt malt finish. Some acidity and goodish length finish. One of my favourite dark milds. Wonderful, can drink it all night as it is only 3.4% Re-rate cask handpull at Yew Tree Inn Barfrestone. Even better than before. Excellent choc/coffee aroma but just gorgeously mild. Body is satisfying and the finish is long and exciting. So much flavour for a beer so weak

1. Cask Handpump at the Lass O’ Gowrie, Manchester 26/05/2001 Smooth mild which is creamy on the palate. Slightly woody aromas in the finish. 2. Cask Handpump at the Penny Black, Northwich 23/07/2008 Some roast aroma. Dark coloured and smooth on the palate with a little dryness in a chocolaty roast finish. 3. Cask Handpump at the Penny Black JDW, Northwich 30/05/2009 Some roast aroma. Black and very smooth on the palate with a little blackcurrant fruit flavour. Hint of dryness in a roast finish.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at Kent Beer Festival. Mild is so hit and miss for me but when it is good I love it. Thankfully this was a real winner. Very dark chestnut brown colour. Lots of dark malty notes in the aroma with some lovely coffee underneath. Flavour is more of the same with some extra creamy coffe and some liquorice and chocolate. Glorious bitterness in the finish where the hops seam to appear out of nowhere. Gentle light sweetness all the way through. First beer of the day and it hardly touched the sides. A solid and very drinkable dark mild. Just how I like it.

Cask in countign house for wetherspoons beer fest. Must be noted this was in perfect condition. This is totally my type of session ale, incredible full body for the %, chocolate through and through darker fruits giving that tiny hints of tartness, really well balanced an nothing dominates though its full. Amazing stuff that i cant wait to have again.
