Commercial Description:
Available in October. This is a smooth dark beer with a satisfying smoked chocolate malt middle, a subtle hint of molasses leads to a mild hop dryness.

Cask in the rake. Alround rating: Roasty black malt, bit of coffee and chocolate, a lightly cloying bittersweet molasses character, but alround a fauirly pleasent drink.

On handpull at the Craven Arms in the Yorkshire Dales, pouring a rich mahogany copper brown. A malty palate and well balanced.

WOW! masses of molasses huge malty flavours i loved this beer....pours a deep chocolate with ruby highlights, toffee and molasses on the nose. A sweet beer that finishes with a 75% dark chocolate bitterness, thank you Moorhouses and thank you the Rake!

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Very dark brown with a small off white head. Malty aroma, rather rough and earthy with a hint of wet bonfire ash. Taste is similar: I rather liked it. Slight bitterness.

Full sweet, deep malt with dried fruit. Reassuring floral hops that linger.

Really tasty stuff. One of the rare occasions that I wish I hadn’t driven somewhere, and stopped for a random pint. Mid Dark rather than intense black, well balanced, with a nice roast note.

Cask - Wetherspoons, Canterbury. This beer looks very nice when poured; a dark, chocolate brown with a small and frothy beige head. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee. Unlike many commercial descriptions that claim flavours that do no appear, Black Witch does contain that ’smoked chocolate malt middle’ that its description professes to. This, combined with coffee flavours and a smooth mouthfeel, makes a very nice beer. The finish is creamy and mildly hoppy, but it goes down a treat.
