Thin white head, Nutty and hoppy ale. Low carbonation, very nice. Love the malt as well. Not enough taste to go a couple points higher, but still one of the best strong ales OI’ve had from a bottle to date.

Light copper color with thin off white head. Aroma is very light. There seems to be hints of malt, dark fruit and kalamata olives (not too good really). The flavor has some sweet and grainy maltiness coupled with a rancid oil or olive brine note that is not really helping the flavor. Disappointing product.

Medium to light orange in appearance, quite clear, small head fades away rather rapidly. Aroma is a bit odd, sort of blend of tea and caramel. Flavor is markedly better, lots of toffee and bunches of fruit, primarily rich orange marmalade. A touch of floral at the very end. I rather enjoyed this one. NOTE: re-rate 11/08. Not often that I’m significantly different, but was this time. Pale amber, aroma of earthy hops & slight sweet malt. Biscuit malts, offset by bittering earthy hops. Light to medium body. Restrained. Pleasant, but not eminently quaffable. Significantly lower numbers overall.

Bottle, 5.1%. Hazy dark amber colour. Stable creamy head, good mouthfeel. The flavour is quite malty and a little yeasty with some fruity sweetness. Quite good for a bottled English ale.

The aroma has apple cider vinegar, yeast, caramel malt, and resin hops. The appearance is orange/amber with a small but persistent head. The flavor is bitter with butter, nuts, toffee, light fruits, and citrus. The palate is thin and the aftertaste is astringent. Overall it’s an interesting beer but not a great beer.

This had two distinct aroma profiles. When it was concentrated at the bottleneck, the beer presented a sweet figgy/cooked raisin and caramel aroma. From a wider-mouthed glass, it takes on a drier, more cereal, almost marzen-like or dark lager aroma with some vanilla and a more muted fruitiness. Orange-tinged gold, with a big floofy head, nice bottle, bad label. Tangy, a little astringent, roasty flavors, lightly sweet, toasty grain, unripe fruits. Finishes out with a middle-of-the-tongue bitterness - again almost marzenlike. Medium bodied. Metallic on the lips. Fair, improves as it warms. Bottled from Market Square Liquors.

Very, very nice. Even though it is a strong ale, see Dragonhead Stout by Orkney. Very similar overall minus the aftertaste. Medium body with decent amount of roasted material and a little too much water from making this a perfectly rounded find. However, it is still excellent!

Hazy orange pour into the glass... a diminished head that leaves little to no lace. A toffee nose predominates, with a "cold air" sensation to boot. There is a definite toffee flavor to this brew, with a buttery hop finish. The butter essence really brings a lively mouthfeel to the beer, alongside the vivacious carb levels. Overall, the brew isn’t bad at all, and reminds me of a good ESB, but not necessarily indicative of the current style.
