Commercial Description:
Dark golden- brown hue. Pours with a foamy white head. Spicy aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with a creamy mouthfeel and dry, toasty finish showing a hint of hop character. An all natural dark beer which is brewed from an old recipe handed down from our ancestors. It’s fine filtered, spiced with the finest of hops and lavish malt. It has a full bodied aroma. Pours with a nice foam-like head.

Complete clear amber pour - not much of a head - a kind of bright, fruity character in the nose, along with herbal hops and light toffee - fairly clean and balanced flavor - flavors of toasted grains, toffee, fairly strong herbal bitterness, making way for a more dry, crackery malt character through the middle - fairly clean and tasty, but there is a metallic character and soapiness in the finish that kind of ruins things.

500 ml bottle. Pours a clear copper amber body with a one finger off-white head that left some light lacing. The nose is dry, dusty, and slightly husky malt with a light touch of light-roast coffee and burnt caramel. The flavor is dry slightly stale and husky toasted malt. Finishes with a little caramel and minimal balancing hops. Not especially flavorful. Medium bodied with a little limp clinginess on the finish. Nice soft light carbonation. Not the best, but worth a try I guess. Reminds me of Veldensteiner Landbier.

Clear, dark amber. Aroma has caramel, grains and cardboard. Flavor is very malty but again I get a stale cardboard.

Fairly dark amber pour with a thick head. There doesn’t really seem to be any suspended yeast in here… it’s crystal clear. The nose has a nice crackery character. Soft herbal hoppiness and a kiss of toffee with a lingering doughiness. There is a solid balance in here. It’s fairly clean, but there is a touch of a distracting metallic character. I like it, but it’s certainly not a great example.

Deep copper coloured body with a ruby tint and a nice thin white head. Aroma of roasted malt, pit fruits, apples, alcohol and a touch of prunes - not the same keller that I’m used to. Medium-bodied; Assertive malty and metallic flavour with some not so-impressive bloody and roasty tastes and a couple of odd fruits tucked in the back. Aftertaste shows some interesting off and musty flavours with the malt coming through the most. Overall, a decent beer, but not the keller or style I’m used to. I sampled this 500 mL swing-top bottle purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 03-October-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 16-November-2009.

50cl swingtop bottle. Clear brown with a medium-small head that leaves some lasting foam in a ring around the glass. The aroma is initially on the hoppy side with some herbal grass and lemon, then it gives way to a richer maltiness with some breadcrust and caramel. The flavor has a nice caramel and bread maltiness and modest hop bite. Medium bodied with loose carbonation. Seems very similar to a märzen in character, and not at all what I was expecting in a keller, being darker and filtered in appearance, with a maltier accent. Still a decent beer though.

500 ml swing top bottle poured a clear amber with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of fruittiness, toasted malt, earthiness and light carmel. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of earthiness, toasted malt, fruittiness and light carmel with a smooth fruity finish.
