ElJefe (506), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 15, 2008 Hazy brown with a large tan head. Aroma is lightly floral with lemon, yeast, and a touch of banana. Flavor is kind of weak, some peppery clove spiciness followed by tart lemon acidity. Thin body, lots of carbonation.
phishpond417 (1366), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Aug 3, 2008 Pours a clear almond colour with a pretty large tan head. Aroma is faint nutty with a hint of honey. Mouthfeel is well carbonated, but slightly watery and dissapointing for the most part. Taste is way too light for its style- ecspecially since it’s labeled as a dark wheat. Way too weak. Pwn3d (591), NYC, New York, USA Jul 12, 2008 Reads Moosbacher Schwarze Weisse. Poured brown, no sediment. Some wheat, malts, and spice. Very good palate. Underrated. kiefdog (390), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 10, 2008 50cl bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark brown with thick and frothy tan head that settles slowly and laces the glass. Aroma is sweet malt, yeast, wheat, caramel, ripe plum, maybe some notes of raisins. Flavor is similar with sweet malty notes, ripe dark fruit, yeast, wheat and hints of caramel. Light to medium-bodied with just a tinge of sour, bitter aftertaste. The finish is about the only thing I really didnt enjoy. pintocb (397), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 28, 2008 Dark brown color, not too clear, but not too cloudy. Both bottles I’ve had have been gushers. Earthy smelling with a fluffy white head. Spices and malt dominate. Clean, light finish; very fizzy. Great summer beer. unclemattie (1556), Georgia, USA May 17, 2008 50cl swing-top bottle. Pours a very hazy, medium brown. White creamy head. Aroma is a spicy floral. Yeastt, dough, lemon zest and big clove scents. Flavor is of rich toasted wheat. Some flavors of pepper and a sligbht tartness. Finishes with a yeasty dryness and a calming hop bitterness. A super-good Dunkelweizen. Prost!
