Hazy mud brown color, small off-white head. Sour, peppery-wheaty aroma. Wheaty with sour milk flavours, glue-like notes. Solid body, but nothing else - not very fruity, also too little roast or alcohol punch for a good dunkelweizen. Finish has some citric lemony notes.

Bottle... NTB Ernesto Festo ’06... Murky caramel-colored ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The aroma has all your typical hefe esters and phenols (banana, pear and clove), chocolate, cinnamon and light smoke. The flavor is about the same with fairly good balance. Light to medium-bodied and fizzy. Short, crisp, clean finish. Better than expected. Surprisingly refreshing on a hot, sunny Cape Fear/Southern N.C. beach day!

.5L bottle-pours a big to shaving cream tan head that laces and cloudy brown/orange color. Aroma is nice, sweet medium malt/wheat-caramel, clove (tettnang hops). Taste is sweet medium malt/wheat-caramel, clove (tettnang hops), spicy/earthy hops-bitter, peppery, slight banana, semi dry. Mouth feel barely average as there are as many detractors as pluses, like, the initial good effervescence gives way to thin.

Interesting... The listing is called Weissbier Dunkel, the pictured label reads Dunkle Weisse, and my bottle is Schwarze Weisse.

It pours a hazy light brown with a tall rocky head. Good lacing. The aroma has a strong, bready yeast content covering caramel/toffee malt and old banana, peels and all. There’s also a slight sour milk smell. The flavor is banana with a lightly roasted malt and a touch of smokiness and a mild bitterness that develops in the finish. Just in time for the Summer.

Hingtop bottle at Rathskeller. Poured a hazy brown color with a large off-white fizzy head that was mostly lasting and produced fair lacing. Good banana and toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Good sweet toast flavor with an average sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable brew.
