Commercial Description:
This is the kind of beer you want to curl up next to a fire with. It has smooth alcoholic warmth. Munich, caramel & roasted barley combined with an extra long kettle boil provide a malt sweet caramelized flavor. The flavor is balanced by the use of peated malt to provide a slight warm smoky flavor. The three main flavors (alcohol, malt & smoke) are big & bold but have balanced well due to a long conditioning time. This is basically the Winter Warmer from last year but not as hoppy so more true to the scotch ale style.

A lighter brown color with a slightly peppery nose. Moderate sweetness through the flavor. Not a huge scotch ale. From a growler.

Growler courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown/reddish color with no head. Light peat and caramel malt aroma. Fairly strong peaty taste. Light malt, kind of odd for the style. Bone dry and earthy hop finish. Not bad at all.

Copper color with a modest off-white head. Mild caramel , pale malt, peat and herbal hops aromas. Nice pale malt start. Middle fills with caramel, toffee, and hints of peat. FInish has light herbal hops and again a touch of peat. Just a hint of alcohol in the finish.

On draught at the Moosejaw brewpub in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Pours a semi-clear dark copper amber brew with a thick beige head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of semi-sweet caramel malt, some smoked peat, molasses, toffee and some flowery hops. Taste is medium to full bodied, with flavors of smoked caramel malt with peat, some toffee, chocolate, some light molasses and brown sugar, Finish is semi-sweet, no bitterness with a slight alcohol warmth.
