Sampled on draught at the brewpub/restaurant in Wisconsin Dells. Pours a clear dark cola caramel brew with a thick and lasting off-white head and a good stick lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, toasted nuts, sweet toffee and flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of toasted dark bread, chocolate, dried figs with a touch of banana and caramel. Finish is slightly bitter with a creamy and bready chocolate aftertaste.

On-tap @ the Brewpub. Deep mahogany color and a nice tan head of foam that leaves sheets of lacing behind it. Aroma of dark chocolate and toasted munich-style malts. Light roasted malt flavor for bitterness and some rich chocolate in the flavor. Nutty aspect reminded me a lot of a rich nut brown ale. Medium-to-full bodied and quite smooth. Says on the menu that this won a Silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival. I can see why.

Clear ruby brown with medium tan head. Aroma is sweet toasty, caramel, and light roasty -- quite inviting. Taste is sweet, caramel, toasty, and light peach. Light carbonation and a light/medium body.

Deep, translucent cherry black in color with a lovely, dark creamy tan head. Burnt chocolate manifests in the aroma, interspersed with Coca Cola. Rich, nutty chocolate take a robust step forward in the flavor profile. Caramel currents and milk chocolate brownies contribute as well. Palate feel is appreciated - creamy, medium-bodied and easy going as a dunkel should be. Good to see a brewpub doing an above par rendition of the style.

Sample at the brewpub. Near black, wisp of head which lasted an hour. Grapy-chocolaty nose, smooth cocoa body, fairly full; chewy, late robustness, a great "dark" session beer.

On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Pours a nearly opaque with a frothy, spotty-lacing tan head. Sweet, doughy dark caramel malty nose has some grainy Munich malt character. Body starts fairly full with some mild dark caramel malty sweetness along with some toasty doughy notes toward the finish.

(Tap) Pours dark brown with little head. Malty sweetness evident throughout, not not overpowering. Caramel and toffee notes as well. Good mouthfeel makes this one really enjoyable. One of my favorites from Moosejaw.
