Feb 4, 2006 On tap at the Moose’s Tooth. Jewel-like garnet color when held against the light with a lasting cream color head that left lots of sticky lace. Sweet grain nose. Sweet, malty beer with a hint of roasted grains and burnt sugar. Subtle hop bitterness in the finish. Nice bock.

Aug 20, 2005 (Draft: Moose’s Tooth Brewing Company in Anchorage AK) Malty, moderately sweet with a balancing bitterness. It’s sweeter than the Dark Star, but similar enough to draw comparisons. Mild roastiness in the flavor as well. The nose is kind of "lagerish", with some roast and mildly sweet. Medium bodied. Medium ruddy brown body is topped by a tan head until it fades to a wide brim. Lacing is spotty. Yeah, it’s okay, I could drink this again.

Jul 22, 2005 Tap at the pub. Fading brown color, zero head. Malty nose/profile, with a small touch of hops. Palate was unpleasantly syrupy. Not great.

Jul 17, 2005 On draft at the brewpub 7/6/05: Shoe-leather brown with vague aromas but a nice blend of flavors: caramel and easy-going alcohol tones. Excellent bock.
