Dark brown with a small light brown head. The taste is mostly sweet with a light sourness from the yeast, there is also a nice warming sensation. Full bodied with fairly active carbonation for an Imperial Stout. This is a great beer, different than most of the Imperial Stouts out there, but that’s not a bad thing. graham515 (424), Houston, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Pours jet black into the glass with an off white head. Aroma is chocolaty and sweet with some roasted bitterness and Belgian spice. This beer is extremely rich and makes a great pair with vanilla ice cream. Lots of chocolate flavors with complexity that only a belgian yeast strain can provide. Very smooth and velvety across the palate. Wonderful. rwaters (27), Anchorage, Alaska, USA

Pours a dark black with a nice tan head. Complex aroma that has hints of licorice, chocolate, and roasted malts. Medium to full bodied. Does not have an intense alcohol flavor for being over 10% abv. When on tap, you need to try it. AmEricanbrew (1828), bankrupt socialistwelfare state, Washington DC, USA

I was surprised by how thin it felt considering how it looks. Malty and chocolaty, but too much alcohol flavor. Pretty sweet, but hard to pick out individual flavors other then chocolate Braudog (3762), Dayton, Ohio, USA

The aroma is a "wow" of licorice and bourbon. Rich and malty beyond rich and malty. this has a syrupy, whiskey-malt bite to it, quite strong. (#3312, 1/22/2008)
