Commercial Description:
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10° and 12° C.

Clear dark amber colored, average light brown head. Light caramel aroma and taste, dry and bitter end. Some vague butter-smell. Far better than i expected.

bottle - This is one of the better industrial beers available in Italy, it’s one I drink quite a bit of as it has an excellent price / quality ratio (here in Italy at least ). It pours a dark orangey-brown with a small off-white head. Very sweet aroma with lots of malt and brown sugar with fruit. The taste is just as sweet without being cloying with a bit of caramel and light hint of alcohol but never overbearing. Even with the high alcohol content this beer is very drinkable. I’m not sure I like the new bottle and label though.

Bottle. Poured a clear light brown with a slight red hue and a thin off-white head. Aroma was full of sweet malts as well as a bit of a roasted undertone. Flavor was sweet from the malts with notes of cereal and grain.

Deep copper color with minimal head that dissipates quickly. Very sweet, rich malty nose. The thin taste first follows thru with a surprising crisp malt taste on the finish. Full mouthfeel coats the extremities and lingers nicely. True to style. Almost some burnt caramel on the end.

1st August 2008. Clear brown beer. Crisp and malty. Subtle fruit and cream undertone. Minerally malty finish. Refreshing.

Pours a copperish/bronzish clear with a good thick head and wonderful lacing. Looks a bit light to me, but who knows? Smells nice and malty with a bit of coffee and just a touch of nuttiness in there. Tastes much better than anticipated, honestly. The maltiness is surely present out front with a nice coffee showing that I didn’t think would be there. Very well balanced, overall. Feel is very good. Nice and creamy and easily slides down the throat. Could be a little bit thicker, but still very good. Very tasty and drinkable (especially at 7.2 percent). I’d have no problem devouring quite a few of these.

bottle. This was a pretty good beer. The aromas are pretty muted, with some caramel malts being prevalent. The color is fantastic, caramel colored with a brilliant red hue coming through. The flavors are good, lots of caramel, but with some spice and hops which ends up balancing it pretty well. It’s a little thin tasting, but very smooth.
