Commercial Description:
This special beer was created to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the City of Morgan Hill on November 10, 1906. It was brewed in the “California Common” style commonly brewed 100 years ago. We used the San Francisco Lager yeast fermented at 65° F (warm for lager yeast) and Cascade and Centennial varietal hops.

’06 bottle shared by bleeng at Zinisters. Pours a cloudy, light orange with almost no head. Nose is of apricots (aka faded hops). Taste is of apricots as well. definitely past it’s prime. Mouthfeel is medium and a bit of tangy, bitter aftertaste.

Older bottle thanks to Jimmy from CA. Light copper color with no head. Nose is faded hops, astringenciy. Woody, spicy, bitter, a bit old. Light but firm body. Different. I would have like to taste this fresh...

Bottle from Bleeng, sampled at Zinister’s tasting. Thanks!
2006 Vintage. Pours an average cheddar yellow with a nose of plastic, buttery hops. Flavor is rosemary, cedar, and dilled cheddar cheese. Very interesting; very different. Watery mouthfeel. Weird brew, but worth a taste. Curious as to how it tasted fresh.

Thanks to bleeng for this bottle from 2006. Rich honey color with a very small head...pours like a barley wine. Nose of apricot, cedar and honey. Flavor is dry with very old hops...a bit musty. Finish is bitter and way odd, can’t even really describe it. It’s obviously too old for the style..and it shows. Thanks for sharing Rick!
