Wulfstan (443), California, USA Nov 7, 2007 This is a wonderful, flavourful, very satisfying ale. It is a reddish copper with a thick off-white head that steadily dissipates to a thin, lasting head. The aroma is malty grain and lemon. The taste, outstanding, being robust yet smooth. It has a solid malt body, a hint of sweetness with a nice hop bite and citrus-floral element to balance it. It is certainly on the hoppier side for typical English ales (and more so than Old Speckled Hen) but this is wonderful here because fo the great debpth of flavor and balance. The finish is long and smooth with a lingering taste of toasted grain. Shazbat (100), USA Feb 6, 2001 More of a bite than Morlands other offerings, but still has the signature smoothness and mellow aftertaste. SNIAT (120), Passaic, New Jersey, USA Aug 9, 2001 One of the best I’ve ever had, I not the kind of guy who tries to find flavors in beer (besides good or bad), but you sit there and do it with this. Will kill to have it on tap. dizziius (9), San Diego, California, USA does not count Dec 21, 2002 Unlike some of the posters below, I got a fresh bottle and it tastes quite good. Beautiful copper color, nice head, just the right amount of carbonation, and an overall well-balanced ale. There is a hint of sourness in the aroma, but I found it a pleasant surprise.
