Appearance: clear orange/amber with a patchy white head. Flavour: sweet honey suckle with just a hint of smoke. Some mild hop notes also present. Palate: thin drinks clean with just a hint of residual hop. Fairly similar to an Old Speckled Hen without the toffee notes, watered down then with a little smoke added. The color is a clear amber. this ale is sweet, and goes down very easily. Very hoppy. Lunkie (1020), Glen Iris, Australia
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Mar 25, 2005 Aroma reminds me of old harispray. Stale malt floral lacqure aroma. Crystal cler amber colour with fair head. Not much flavour. Slight malt sweet hops. Flat plalate. I have made a more complex beer than this one. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 23, 2005 Orange/amber body, small off-white head. Aroma was slightly sweet, malty, vanilla notes. Medium body, watery texture, light carbonation. Flavor is sweet, nutty, malty, but faint. Nothing very special. Dogbrick (2901), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Mar 15, 2005 Note to self: Do not buy a single bottle of beer in a clear bottle when the age of said bottle is not determinable. Clear orange-amber color with a thin light tan head and minimal lacing. Skunky dish rag smell. Light body, and possibly some hops under the gag-inducing sour skunk-barf flavor, but I did not care to investigate further. The finish, at least for me, involved spitting it out. I will be gunshy about this beer for a long time. skisangelo (60), Collingswood, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 21, 2005 Poured a very clear gold with a small white head that vanished quickly. In the front a caramel taste, followed by a sweet malt flavor. Very light on the hops but heavy on the water. A good choice of a beer in 100 degree weather. Not a fine ale like the label claims. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 5, 2005 If you are going to market a fine bottled Ale, then go the extra mile and tint the glass!!. Luckily, my sample seemed very ’clean’, but disappointingly ordinary. Tasted from the 33cL, it poured a brilliant, clear gold, with a wafer thin, white head. Aroma seemed very similar to ’Old Speckled Hen’, but lacked the depth of noble British hops. Quite clean and malt accented, the flavour was light on, but gummy (not in a bad way!), with sweet caramel in front, roasted sides, and followed with a short malty-sweet aftertaste. Not outstanding, but definitely sessionable. mutant (854), Melbourne, Australia
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 27, 2005 Amber with an initially large but rapidly diminishing head. Strange aroma, firstly very skunky thanks to the damned clear bottle. This then dissipates and becomes quite nicely malty. Flavour is mosly caramel malt with only a mild bitterness. Like a lot of these bottled English Ales, the flavour could stand to be stronger or morre robust. But then that might just be my taste.
